Museum Open for Dickensian Evening in Tavistock 5th December 2026

The mini-Museum of Policing in Devon & Cornwall at Court Gate building, Bedford Square, will be opening especially for Tavistock’s Dickensian Evening on Friday 5th December. 

Dickensian Evening is a late-night shopping event that transports you back in time as shopkeepers embrace the spirit and dress up in traditional attire. Christmas lights switch-on is at 17:45pm. 

The streets are filled with crowds who come to enjoy the old-fashioned traditional Christmas experience. There will be stilt walkers, choirs, bands, and street entertainers all performing throughout the town. For children there’s an old-fashioned merry-go-round fairground ride and candy floss! 

  • Get there early to avoid the rush
  • Free parking in the centre of town from 3pm
  • Free Park & Ride from Morrisons’ Car Park from 4.15pm – overflow parking available
  • Disabled Parking at ATS on Parkwood Road from 5pm – please show your badge.
