Museum sites

Devon Heritage Centre is home to the Museum’s archive, which is managed by our partners Southwest Heritage Trust. The archive can be visited for research purposes – but booking in advance is recommended, so our archivist can be on hand to help you with your search. Here is a user guide.

The lovely west Devon market town of Tavistock is home to the mini-Museum, which is free to the public. Staffed by a brilliant, knowledgeable, team of volunteers, come and see us between Easter and the end of September, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm.

Okehampton Police Station is home to the objects collection – thousands of policing items dating as far back as 1790. As Okehampton is a working police station visitors MUST contact the team to arrange an appointment, or join one of the regular stores tours, also bookable in advance. NB: there is no disabled access in Okehampton.
